Good to know
Is this work allowed without an electrician?
Replacing a fixture or switch on an existing circuit is a like-for-like swap. New circuits, panel work or anything behind the wall needs a licensed electrician, and we will say so.
Can you install a fixture with no existing box?
That needs new wiring, so no. We can recommend an electrician and come back to hang the fixture once the box is in.
